A Custom Storefront

This is a 16-foot wide storefront for Dylan’s Candy Bar, at the Florida Mall in Orlando, Florida. It consists of clear cast epoxy resin panels containing 19 types of candy. Light boxes illuminate the candy panels, which were frosted on the backside. The dark vertical shape you see is a channel for a rolling security door.

The 16-foot header shown above includes a 90-degree angle. It’s cast as a single piece in order to create a perfect edge with no evidence of joining or adhesives.

Storefronts were built for three stores. Each one was different. Owens designed and fabricated the molds.

The largest mold was fully adjustable. The angle and size of the two panels could be easily changed. It was propped-up to save space when not in use.

Holes in the supporting deck were for increased airflow.
