[Mold-Making & Casting]

Wildlife Art

A lovely piece by Orlando-based sculptor Natasha Drazich. The mold had to reproduce the negative through-space between the legs without removing it from the branch and capture all the details of the talons.

Both sides of the mold look rather ordinary when they’re connected to the mother-mold. But the rubber opens up when it pulls away from the part, as you’ll see in the following photos.

The back of the mold opens so that two “risers” can be pulled out along with the owl.

The front of the mold opens so that the branch and talons can be pulled out along with the rest of the owl.

The left and right sides of the branch were molded separately. Care was taken to capture all details.
